Fall is in the air! Schools still registering for fall fundraisers!

Fall is in the air. Leaves are falling and it’s getting cold. As a nationwide fundraising company, we host many fundraisers for elementary and middle schools in every state. Yes, we give away a lot of cool stuff. This was a drawing that all registered schools were elegible for. We deal mostly with elementary and middle schools across the country so our prizes are technology based – laptops, cameras, flip HD video cameras, etc. Things that PTA and PTO parent groups ask for most often.

Many fundraising companies, schools and parent groups are just finding out about the closing of Giftco, Inc. who closed it’s doors March 18th.  The economy has taken it’s toll on yet another well intentioned company and it will affect fundraising companies nationwide.

Giftco is not a household name but has helped literally every fundraising company over the years since their inception in 1975.

The fundraising industry has long relied on Giftco as the one major vendor behind-the-scene that sourced, imported and warehoused products for resale through schools and groups.  The benefits to fundraising companies were numerous and our hearts go out to the employees and families who are affected.

Given the news, companies will respond in various ways.  Companies with a high percentage of products may be in trouble.  The difficulties surrounding creating and importing may simply be too high and many companies will not be able to continue fundraising in a conventional sense.  Others may not have as much difficulty.

We have an educationally based trivia contest on our website www.BelieveKids.com

It is a free giveaway of gift cards and there is a question posted every Monday morning. We’re on a Starbucks kick in the office now so the cards have been from there for a few weeks now.

It is fun and has no agenda in terms of selling anyone on anything. We started it just as a cool thing to benefit the fundraising community.

Close to 10 years ago, we worked with 2,000 music programs and built a huge following with a trivia contest for music teachers. We want to do it again by offering this to schools, parents, PTA and PTO members and even students.

Here’s the thing, we’re just a few weeks into it and it is not getting much traffic. Your odds are incredibly good that you will win and we need help building it up! Seriously embarrassed to point this out but there you have it

Please tell a few people or just keep it a secret and play yourself.  It is really a good way to start Monday mornings off!

We raffled off two items recently – a laptop computer and a 10 mega-pixel digital camera.  Winners were selected at random from entries provided before the new year.

This fall is shaping up to be our best season ever even though the economy is in the tank. Without sounding preachy, we’ve got a plan to help school programs keep their sales from dropping even with the economic crisis we’re all facing. This year are scary for everyone so we’re working hard to keep sales up and want to share our vision with you if we get a chance.

The bad news is that our blog has very few visitors and I am really not very experienced with blogging so I don’t even know how to really increase the visits. Help? Yes, we need it.
